Like, for example, you’ve looked everywhere for the perfect furniture piece for your living room but found nothing close to what you had in mind, here we present you tips on furniture you can build on your own! Wouldn’t that be nice? That’s where we are going now.

Building your own furniture can be rewarding in a sense that it is an inexpensive and fun way of adding value you to your home. In addition, going green is now in, so do take a trip to your local junkyard and find pieces you can recycle and create something out of. Not only will you not lighten your wallet, but you’ll impress your friends too. Although you don’t need to be a professional woodworker to complete any of these projects, they will all require at least some basic knowledge of building and some basic materials.  Here are few things you can build yourself, with many more coming soon.

A steering wheel table can be done by taking a steering wheel from a classic junker then you’ll want to pick up a crankshaft and a flywheel too. The worst part of this project is getting all the grease and oil of the crankshaft and flywheel.  The flywheel is the base of the table. You’ll weld the crankshaft to the flywheel, and then top it off with the steering wheel. Finally, attach a round piece of glass to the steering wheel, polish it, clean it, up and now you have a great car themed table!

A trundle can add additional sleeping space to a room. If you have a bed that has enough space underneath,it will be a clever way to add some extra space for storage too. If you do plan to make a bed that rolls under your existing bed, your existing bed has to be high enough off the ground for a mattress and the wooden support pieces. The most important factor in building a trundle is ensuring it will fit under the bed. So do obtain plywood that will specifically fit your pre-existing bed.

A natural rock coffee table is also easy to do! You can easily buy a thin slab of stone at your local rock supplier or from a Home Depot store. Once you have the main focus of your coffee table, you just need to build a metal support system, seal the rock and then place the rock on top of the supports.  We also suggest using some brush-on sealant because drinks are most likely to spill on the coffee table, so it will be wise to prevent stains.
