Does your burger patty fall apart when grilling? Doesn’t it seem odd that they still break apart even though you have all the right ingredients?
Your patties fall apart not because you bought ground beef that doesn’t contain enough fat, if that’s what you’re thinking. It may be because of improper cooking method, wrong ingredients, and incorrect measurements. These are just some of the most common causes.
Your worries should be gone on your next cookout because here are some tips on how to grill burgers without them falling apart.
Let’s start off with your patty. Go to your local grocery store and buy top quality, fresh ground beef. After mixing in your ingredients, shape it up into thick, round circles. Maybe from a ¾ to 1-inch thickness will do.
Then, make sure you don’t have too many liquid ingredients such as Worcestershire sauce, onions, and eggs. Too much of those would make your patties soggy and easy to break.
After you’ve finished making your patty, set them aside in the freezer. Take them out after an hour or so. If the patties are not cold enough, leave them for another 30 minutes until they are firm.
Pre-heat your grill. Sprinkle some water on it to just make sure they are ready for cooking. Check once again if your patties are cold enough for grilling. Put the patties on the grill. Provide an inch space from each patty so that they will be cooked evenly.
Remember to not keep flipping your patties as they would not cook fast and thoroughly. If you see some browning on the side reaching the middle side of it, it’s time to flip them. Flip them once, if possible.
Enjoy your firm burger patties!
