Staycation Ideas

November 27, 2015 By Elizabeth Leave a Comment

A staycation is a vacation that is spent at one’s home enjoying all that home, along with it’s environment, has to offer. It’s a vacation where you simply just stay at your place and enjoy it, as compared to traveling to distant places. If it doesn’t sound like fun and worth it, here we tell you why you should consider taking one.

Many of us find that a traditional vacation is not always a good option.  Travel costs can add up fast especially when you have your family along with you. In addition to  that, the stress of having to plan the whole trip on your own is also unbearable, especially if it’s a major vacation in a different country.

So why go on one? First of all, going on a staycation saves you money.  You won’t need to spend money on flights, hotels, expensive restaurants, and the like. It’s also  fun for the whole family so do get everyone involved in the activities. Going on a staycation also gives you the benefit of not having to worry about early morning flights, lost luggage, or having your kids get motion sickness.
Here now are some unique staycation ideas with activities you should try:

Visit the local museum. Most have a variety of fun and interactive activities that can keep you and your kids busy the whole day. It’s not just the fun that makes this activity more interesting, it’s also the multitude of learning opportunities!

You can also try Geocaching which is an outdoor treasure hunting game using GPS-enabled devices. Participants navigate to a specific set of GPS coordinates and then attempt to find the the hidden treasure.
Play golf at a nearby country club. We have a listing of the Top 10 country clubs near your area if you don’t know where to play. Even if you’re not a good golfer, this is the perfect time to try it. Go to the club or take a couple lessons if you must.
Take a little cruise at a nearby lake. Most lakes have some sort of dinner or sightseeing cruise that runs in the summer. Or, go fishing or swimming there! There are so many opportunities and activities to try if there’s water.
Notice anything from our list above? These are actually activities you can be trying out right now! Going on a staycation makes you realize all the things that are right in front you that you just don’t appreciate that much.
