October 14, 2015 By Elizabeth Leave a Comment

Have you ever played or learned how to play the guitar? Well, if not, you might want to start thinking about doing so!  Did you know that by playing the guitar, your body relaxes and sets your mood up? Let me share my experiences while learning to love this beautiful instrument.

This six-stringed wooden and metal instrument has worked wonders for a lot of people. In some situations, music produced by guitars has helped people manage depression and loss, as well as love problems, stress, some mental illnesses, and the list never ends. In this article, you will learn ten benefits this instrument can provide you.

The guitar is one of the most loved and bought instruments in the world. So why not learn and play the guitar? You’ll never know what playing the instrument can do for you. Here are some reasons why choosing to play the guitar might be the best decision you’ll ever make in your life:

Relieves stress. The smooth flow of notes and chords the guitar makes sweeps away the anxieties, tensions, and pressures you’re feeling. According to a McGill University neuroscientific study, hearing music triggers the release of dopamine in the brain, a neurotransmitter which enhances your mood and increases pleasure. Stress can be reduced on a normal level by playing an instrument.

Increases intellectual capacity. Studies have shown that people who play music have generally higher test and IQ scores than those who do not. Also, playing music can lead to better memory retention.

Channels emotions. Nothings better than expressing what you feel through music. Play a sad tune when you’re feeling blue, play a happy one when you’re overjoyed.

Physical workout. By playing the guitar, your arm, hand, and finger muscles are being strengthened. It isn’t just good for your mind and soul. Playing guitar burns 90 k calories per hour! Talk about the guitar’s multi-purpose.

Patience and discipline. Your attention span lengthens when you play an instrument. The discipline required to master the guitar is helpful with your everyday life when doing dragging and difficult work.

Sense of achievement. Hard work pays off. The feeling you get when you just finished and mastered a difficult part in a piece you’ve been working your bum for is amazing. You sense that feeling or ease and success.

Last but definitely not the least, FUN. Who says playing an instrument isn’t fun? Feel the music while strumming the guitar! Music brings people of different race and backgrounds together. There’s no denying that playing the guitar is extremely entertaining and worthwhile. You do not just hone your skill, but you also improve yourself in many ways.

Why play the guitar, you ask? Now you know! What are you waiting for? The guitar isn’t just going to strum by itself. Pick it up and start making music!
