How Electricians Can Help You

October 24, 2016 By Elizabeth Leave a Comment

We’ve already featured handymen and plumbers here in America Top 10 before. You know what they can do and when you need to call them for help. Now, we start focusing on the skilled workers who focus on electrical wiring.  So how can Electricians help you in your household?

What They Do

Electricians are tradesmen who specializes in electrical wiring of buildings, stationary machines, and related equipment. Their responsibilities are to design, install, maintain and troubleshoot electrical wiring systems too. These tradesmen can either be inside wiremen or outside linemen. These are the main fields of a practicing electrical professional, but there are various areas of specialization within each category as well.

Inside Wiremen

Inside wiremen focus almost solely on the wiring of buildings. The structures that they work on range from a newly built home to an aged industrial building that’s being repurposed for a new use. Inside wiremen spend most of their careers working with blueprints. They are also capable of installing new electrical systems, troubleshooting problems, or even replacing older systems.

Outside Linemen

Outside linemen, by contrast, generally work outdoors or in a semi-outdoor setting. In fact, they may sometimes be required to work in unfavorable weather conditions. This is because electricians work with transformers, transmission lines, and traffic signals. Outside Linemen may also sometimes required to trim trees or assemble electrical substations.

Other Types

Other types of electricians include service, construction, and auto electricians. Service electricians specialize in troubleshooting wiring problems and making repairs. Construction electricians, in contrast, focus on laying wiring for new buildings and rarely perform maintenance. An auto electrician, on the other hand, is a tradesman specializing in electrical wiring of motor vehicles.
