Are you craving for a snack that involves well.. I don’t know, maybe pepperoni, mozzarella, and lots of tomato sauce? Why not make your own pizza at home? Yes I know, making the dough will be really tedious for someone who has no baking experience. So why not make french bread as your base? It’s easy, quick, and most of all, really good! Here now is our simple french bread pizza recipe that you can do at home with minimal effort. Also, no need to buy a lot of ingredients because what you need will mostly be available already in your refrigerator!
Ingredients:
- 1 soft loaf French or Italian bread, split in half lengthwise
- 1 garlic clove, smashed
- 1/2 cup store-bought tomato sauce
- 1 cup coarsely grated mozzarella
- 3 ounces sliced pepperoni
- 2 tablespoons coarsely chopped fresh basil
Preparation:
Preheat your oven to 425°F and place the bread, cut side up, on a rimmed baking sheet and bake for five minutes.
Remove from oven and rub the cut sides with garlic.
Spread tomato sauce on cut sides of bread. Top with mozzarella and pepperoni
For a Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza variant, top with the Canadian bacon slices and pineapple and bake similarly.
Another variant is the hamburger pizza. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef, red pepper flakes and salt and pepper and saute until the beef is no longer pink. Top the rolls with the sauteed ground beef and bake according to the directions above.
Bake until cheese is melted and golden brown, about 10 minutes. Serve and enjoy!
