Health Benefits of Dancing

Who doesn’t love dancing? If you say you’re one of those people who don’t, you’re probably lying. You’re probably always dancing alone in your room while playing your favorite songs. I mean who wouldn’t enjoy this simple activity? Moving your body in accordance to different beats of a song, doing it with a group or alone, and expressing yourself whichever way you like. It’s thrilling! Here we discuss how it can make you more healthy. What are the health benefits of dancing anyway?

Dancing can be a way to stay fit for people of all ages, shapes and sizes. Some of its known benefits include: improved condition of your heart and lungs; increased muscular strength; weight management; stronger bones and reduced risk of osteoporosis; better coordination, agility and flexibility; improved general and psychological well-being; greater self-confidence and self-esteem; and better social skills.

Recent research has also found that dancing aids in lipid control, which raises our High Density Lipoproteins (good cholesterol), and lowers our Low Density Lipoproteins (bad cholesterol). Dancing is also great for diabetics because it aids in blood sugar control.
For those who are showing signs of age-related memory problems, dancing can help! Regular dancing improves memory by making its participants recall steps, routines, and dance patterns. This makes dancing a great mental exercise and the biggest benefit is that increasing mental exercise keeps your mind young, quick, alert, and open.
And of course, we all know that dancing is a good form of exercise. This can be supported by the fact that it allow for increased circulation which then helps us burn those calories away, while improving our stamina. It is estimated that dance burns anywhere from 5 to 10 calories per minute depending on speed and intensity.
Most importantly, dancing is recreational and entertaining. It creates a social life for us, while affording us the opportunity to make new friends.
