Is your home filled with unnecessary clutter? Do you wish you had more space for you to walk around or put other more important stuff in? Here are some do-it-yourself storage solutions you can do to create more space in your living room, bedroom, or work area! Note that some of these home projects are DIY but you can also hire a handyman if you need help.
You can turn an old vintage suitcase into a storage chest box. Simply clean an old suitcase that nobody uses anymore, dust off the dirt and have it varnished or painted in a color that you like. You can even choose to attach four wooden table legs so it can serve as an actual furniture piece! Store magazines, books, and trinkets inside.
Having hanging mason jars done is also a good way to store salt, sugar, pepper, seeds, buttons, small kitchenware, and even handicraft materials. There are tutorials available in numerous websites but you basically have to mount rare earth magnets in a wooden plank or shelf where you can then hang the mason jars with steel lids. If it’s too complicated for you, you can just opt to use mason jars themselves as storage.
Another creative way to store books is by turning an aluminum basket into a wall-mounted shelf. Drill four holes on the wall where you can place screws later on. Have the base of the basket attach to the wall and install the screws firmly. You can place 4-5 lightweight books here.
Not enough storage inside your wooden cabinets? Why not try sticking plastic baskets on cabinet doors using double-sided adhesives? You can sort and place small important stuff here where you can immediately see them as you open the cabinet doors. No more looking through a pile of mess!
Wooden planks are the secret to having more storage. Have wooden planks mounted on the wall or even above the door! Be sure not to store or place fragile and flammable materials here because even low magnitude earthquakes can displace stuff from these shelves, causing them to fall.
