You’ve tried all the burger places in your area, haven’t you? In your mind, you’re probably thinking that next on your list would be something vegan. A vegan burger? A veggie patty burger perhaps? Truly, that’s something that you don’t see on all menus out there. But don’t be disappointed, because there are now more and more restaurants that serve healthier choices. In the meantime, why not make some at the comfort of your home? In doing so, your veggie-loving friends will love it too. So here now is a Veggie Patty Recipe that’s perfect for meat-lovers and vegetarians alike.
Why A Veggie Patty?
We previously wrote something about healthy burgers and we mentioned that burgers, on the average, contain around 300 calories. These calories will definitely make you gain a lot of weight and fat. What part of the burger caries most of the calories though? We suppose that the patty is a major factor but all the other ingredients contribute to this too. If you’re trying to lose weight then, tweaking the burger patty is a good way to start hence, this recipe.
The Ingredients
- 6 ounces of rolled oats
- 2 ounces of olive oil
- 2 tablespoons of seasoned bread crumbs
Directions
In a medium saute pan and over medium heat, add 1-ounce of olive oil and all raw vegetables except the beans. Saute until translucent then remove and cool. Add the veggies to the beans and mix thoroughly. Add all dry ingredients along with the egg. Thoroughly mix all ingredients and form into 4 patties, cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes. In saute pan add 1-ounce olive oil, and cook patties 2 to 3 minutes per side. Serve with ready made burger buns and toppings of choice.
