There are Types of Sofas?

September 16, 2018 By Elizabeth Leave a Comment

Some of our group were baffled when this topic was approached. There was honest confusion. There are different types of sofas? The things you sit on? Hence the title of this article. It was a legitimate question. Of course, one of our younger volunteers stated he just uses his bed. I was much the same in my Uni days. I couldn’t afford to eat, let alone buy furniture.

Now though, now these questions have much more in-depth answers. While my husband may not appreciate the nuances of the various types of sofas, he will appreciate my knowing and choosing wisely. So long as it makes things look pretty. He is very big on things looking pretty.

So, after many hours of confusion looking at brochures and surfing online we decided we couldn’t be the only ones confused. The type of sofa you have determines the type of slipcover you need. Now, there are some seriously in-depth articles on this.

We do not want to reinvent the wheel but we do want a basic understanding. So, after reviewing several various posts we found a few that stood out as particularly useful. Of course, they do include plenty of advertisements for couches and different types of sofas. But that is to be expected.

We felt that this article by Comfort Works was the most comprehensive and easiest to understand. We particularly liked the way he had it sectioned into different styles, arm types, and back types.

Also very helpful was this article from Home Stratosphere also helps better understand the various components of the different types of sofas themselves.

We hope you have also found these helpful in understanding the types of sofas. And that you will patronage your local furniture stores. Nothing replaces getting to try a piece of furniture out in person. Let us know about your experiences, which stores treated you best?
