Curly hair is trendy, hip, and brave but also popular for being one of the hardest hair types to manage and style. In addition, curly hair also tends to be drier and more prone to tangles than straight hair. If you’re sporting curly hair, then you will have to be careful about washing, conditioning, and styling it. Here are some ways:

Washing and Drying
Curly hair is dryer than regular hair, and because of this, it is more prone to damage. Use shampoo that is formulated for damaged hair. However, do limit shampooing your hair because it can dry out hair and cause it to look frizzier. Shampoo your hair no more than twice a week or better yet, opt for deep conditioning. Do this by applying a conditioner to your hair before getting into the shower. Place a shower cap over your head, covering your hair completely, then shower with the cap in place. The heat and steam from the shower helps lock in the conditioner’s moisture. When you’re done showering, rinse out the conditioner and brush as usual. If you must blow dry, place a diffuser over your hair dryer before blow drying your hair. This lessens your hair’s exposure to heat.
Styling Your Curls
If your curly hair is thick and coarse, apply a silicone serum to the length of your hair before you start styling or adding other styling products. Avoid applying over the area of hair closest to your scalp though. If your curly hair is fine and thin, then use a silicone spray and apply as little as possible to the length of your hair, again avoiding the scalp.
If you want only minimal hold, then use lightweight styling lotions or gels. When applying styling products don’t use too much, and take the time to apply them evenly. Apply a little extra where you need it but remember to never overdo it. Consider using a silicone-based facial serum to give your hair more shine. Yes, it’s true. These skin-care products contain the same core ingredients found in shine serums and are found to be working just as well.
The Right Stylist
If you are still in doubt or if your curly hair doesn’t seem to be improving, there’s only one thing to do left. Look for the best stylist to cut and care for your curly hair!
