Sharin Y. S. Burton, MD

Dr. Burton seeks to understand her patients’ medical, psychological, and social needs. Prior to attending medical school, she earned a PhD in neuroscience. Her research in brain disorders such as stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders made her want to help those suffering from those disorders clinically, rather than through laboratory research. She is the chief of the Neurosciences Division and physician champion for Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke, an in-hospital program developed by the American Heart Association for improving stroke care.
