Mexican food in their family was more than just their daily sustenance, it also meant holidays, birthdays and fiestas. Each occasion had its special food. Christmas meant tamales, birthdays meant enchiladas and fiestas meant tacos. Not that they didn’t have these foods any other time of year, it’s just that a celebration meant a food that took more than the usual preparation and time, thus more caring.
