An electric car is an automobile that is powered by one or more electric motor machines, using electrical energy stored in rechargeable batteries or another energy storage device. Electric motors give electric cars instant torque, creating strong and smooth acceleration, without the noise of a traditional motor you see on fuel powered cars. They are also known to be more efficient as compared to cars with internal combustion engines. They are relatively more environmentally too.
Who would have thought this concept would come to reality? In fact, a few years ago, there were only a few number of available plug-in cars available on the market. Today however, there are more than 20 models offered from different brands, available in a variety of sizes, styles, and even price ranges. There is definitely one electric car for you out there! Maybe not right now but soon enough for sure.
What makes up an electric car by the way? Under the hood of electric cars, you will notice that where the gasoline engine should be, there is an electric motor instead. Also, the electric motor usually gets its power from a controller which is then powered by an array of rechargeable batteries too.
Any electric car that uses batteries needs a charging system to recharge the batteries. The normal household charging system has the advantage of convenience anywhere you can find an outlet, you can recharge.
