How Many Bedrooms do You Need?

August 11, 2015 By Elizabeth Leave a Comment

If you are a first time home owner planning to build the home of your dreams, you might be so overwhelmed with the task because there are just so many things to think about. Why do you want to build a house in the first place? What are some of the things you would like to do in and with your new place? Which among the following factors should you prioritize: space, features, amenities, or all of these? Coming up with these decisions can take weeks and even months. So here we are to help you answer one of the many important questions when building a home, how many bedrooms do you need?

Why is this so important though? Because a lot of future space issues tend to originate from the number of bedrooms your family has. Bedrooms house people, and as your family grows and matures, you may require additional  number of bedrooms or worst, space. So it is wise to have the right number of bedrooms at the start right?  How many bedrooms do you need then? Here is a quick guide

The first consideration is the number of people currently living in your family.  If you have a family of four, with two children, you will probably require four bedrooms. This is because each child may need his or her own room eventually, and you might want a bit of extra space if ever you decide t have another child.

Do you need a guest bedroom? We suggest that yes, have a room built for that purpose, especially if you often host family members or friends at your home. It’s always nice to dedicate a specific area of the house exclusively for guests. This extra bedroom may also be useful for those nights where you and your spouse are not in good terms. No need to sleep on the couch! LOL.

So again, the number of bedrooms you will need will basically depend on how many children you have, and whether or not you want to have guests staying at your place.
