Mount Roberts Tramway

Juneau, AK

The Goldbelt Mount Roberts Tramway opened in 1996 and operates May through September. It is the only aerial tramway in southeast Alaska. Cars rise 1,800 feet from the cruise ship dock in downtown Juneau through the rain forest to the Mountain House, offering expansive views of Juneau and Gastineau Channel. The Mount Roberts Tramway is one of the most vertical tramways in the world and received the Governor’s Award for facility accessibility design. They are fully ADA compliant and can easily accommodate guests with accessibility requirements.

The Hammer Museum

Haines, AK

The Hammer Museum is the world’s first museum dedicated to hammers. The Hammer Museum provides a view of the past through the use of man’s first tool. You will find over 1500 hammers on display, ranging from ancient times to the present. The museum is a 501c3 nonprofit organization which is run entirely by volunteers.

Alaska State Museum

Juneau, AK

The Alaska State Museum was established on June 6, 1900, when an Act of Congress created the Historical Library and Museum for the District of Alaska.  The Alaska State Museum, identifies, collects, preserves and exhibits Alaska’s material and natural history and provide public access to services and collections of the Museums.

National Shrine of Saint Thérèse, Juneau

Juneau, AK

The National Shrine of St. Thérèse, Juneau, is a ministry of the Diocese of Juneau and is located approximately 22 miles north of downtown Juneau. The Shrine has welcomed people of all faiths and all corners of the world for over 75 years. The Shrine will be a place of spiritual refuge and retreat for the Diocese of Juneau, other religious groups, and when possible, for other groups utilizing it with reverence and care.

DIPAC Macaulay Salmon Hatchery

Juneau, AK

Visitors to the Macaulay Salmon Hatchery have a variety of options to view the hatchery and learn about Pacific salmon and hatchery operations. For those who would like to enjoy the visitor center at their own pace, their admission fee allows access to the aquariums, educational exhibits, rearing facility, and gift shop. For guests wanting a more in depth look at an operational hatchery we offer two types of presentations throughout the summer season.

Eagle Beach State Recreation Area

Juneau, AK

Eagle Beach is north of Juneau along the Glacier Highway with views of Lynn Canal, the Chilkat Mountains, and the Juneau Mountains. Eagle River flows through the area. This park unit has 16 primitive sites in the forested section of the park. There are several walk-in camping sites. Large beach and river bars offer excellent beach combing and fishing. Whales, sea lions, and seal frequent the ocean nearby.

Tongass National Forest

Ketchikan, AK

Tongass National Forest, is the nation’s largest national forest. The Tongass covers most of Southeast Alaska surrounding the famous Inside Passage and offers unique chances to view eagles, bears, spawning salmon, and the breath-taking vistas of “wild” Alaska. Hike or take a sled-dog ride on a glacier, stroll along boardwalk trails, fish in streams or the ocean, or relax at a remote cabin. If spying some truly wild wildlife is on your bucket list, visit the Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center in Juneau, Anan Wildlife Observatory in Wrangell, Fish Creek Bear Viewing Area in Hyder, or Pack Creek Brown Bear Viewing Area on Admiralty Island, or immerse yourself in native culture at the stunning Southeast Alaska Discovery Center, located just steps away from the cruise ship docks in downtown Ketchikan.

Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge

Douglas, AK

The Mendenhall Wetlands State Game Refuge is enjoyed year-round by residents and visitors alike. Waterfowl hunting, hiking, wildlife viewing and photography, boating, fishing, scientific and educational studies, and sightseeing are popular activities supporting approximately 20,000 user days annually. The streams flowing into the refuge support an estimated 400 days of fishing effort each year. Coho salmon is the most frequently taken fish, followed by cutthroat trout, sockeye salmon, and Dolly Varden. Waterfowl hunters expend over 2,000 hunter days and take over 3,000 ducks annually on the refuge.

Eaglecrest Ski Area

Juneau, AK

Owned and operated by the City and Borough of Juneau, Eaglecrest is the place to be this winter. Eaglecrest Ski Area is a community-owned winter recreation area and a year-round destination for outdoor recreation and education, providing a wide range of affordable winter and summer outdoor recreational activities.
