Columbus Museum

Columbus, GA

Founded in 1953, the Columbus Museum is one of the largest museums in the Southeast and is unique for its dual concentration on American art and regional history, displayed in its permanent collection, temporary exhibitions, and educational programs.

Weracoba Park

Columbus, GA

Originally known as Wildwood Park and later named Weracoba Park. It got its name from the man-made Weracoba Creek which feeds the park. Once there was a lake with islands and arched bridges connecting them. Boating was a popular past time at the park. In 1925 the lake was drained and Columbus High was built near the site of the ball fields.

Columbus Botanical Garden

Columbus, GA

The Columbus Botanical Garden offers free daily admission to visitors. They are pleased to provide an attractive venue and colorful setting for photography, special events, horticultural seminars and community learning.

Coca-Cola Space Science Center

Columbus, GA

Owned and operated by Columbus State University, the Coca-Cola Space Science Center innovatively combines education and entertainment to promote science exploration and discovery throughout Columbus and the southeast. Along with a host of interactive gallery exhibits, the Coca-Cola Space Science Center (CCSSC) is home to the Challenger Learning Center, Mead Observatory, and Omnisphere Theater, and also serves as the teaching and research site for CSU astronomy courses.

Flat Rock Park

Columbus, GA

Flatrock Park provides guests with access to a walking trail, playgrounds, picnic areas, grills, and covered eating areas. Friendship hall is available for rental.

National Civil War Naval Museum at Port Columbus

Columbus, GA

The National Civil War Naval Museum overlooks the Chattahoochee River. They house the largest surviving Confederate warship, the CSS Jackson, as well as the wreckage of the CSS Chattahoochee. Other exhibits include a full scale ship replica of the USS Water Witch, a replica of the USS Hartford with its berth deck, ward room and captain’s cabin, an actual cutter or “ship’s boat” from the USS Hartford, a full scale replica of the USS Monitor’s famous turret, and an immersive panoramic dockside exhibit recreating Plymouth, North Carolina, complete with an exterior and interior view of the CSS Albemarle.

Flint River Aquarium

Albany, GA

Located on the banks of the Flint River, the Flint RiverQuarium tells the story of the Flint River and the blue hole springs that helped create it. Visitors can experience the unique ecosystems of the Flint River watershed through a variety of interactive exhibits featuring more than 100 species of native aquatic life. A recent aviary addition also gives visitors a close-up look at a wide variety of birds found in the surrounding wetland habitat. Other ongoing programming, such as dive shows, alligator feedings and animal presentations, ensure that every visit has something new to offer.

Wild Adventures Theme Park

Valdosta, GA

Wild Adventures is a 170-acre theme park, water park, and animal park all in one place for less located in Valdosta, Georgia. The park features one of the largest ride collections in the South, more than 500 wild animals, Splash Island Water Park, the region’s largest water park, shows, festivals and all-star concerts. The park is owned and operated by Herschend Family Entertainment (HFE), a company specializing in family entertainment.
