Howell Wetlands

Evansville, IN

One of the largest urban wetlands in Indiana, this unique ecosystem is an appealing year-round location for education and enjoyment. The 35-acre property includes a variety of habitats, including a marsh, slough and remnant river oxbow. You’re invited to explore and enjoy, using the more than 2 miles of hiking trails, crossing wooden walkways, and bridges.

Garvin Park

Evansville, IN

Garvin Park is one of Evansville’s oldest parks. Purchased in 1915, the 80 acres provides a large lake, swimming pool, playground, tennis and basketball courts. It is located next to historic Bosse Field. Garvin Park is listed on the National Register of Historical Places and is a favorite for public gatherings. During the month of December, the local Easter Seals features the Ritzy Fantasy of Lights for the Christmas season.

Burdette Park

Evansville, IN

Burdette Park is a municipally owned and operated facility that provides a recreational and educational environment for patrons of all ages. Burdette Park is comprised of approximately 170 acres of scenic rolling hills in southwestern Indiana. The park management and employees are dedicated to providing a safe, recreational, and educational environment for patrons of all ages.

Reitz Home Museum

Evansville, IN

Evansville, Indiana’s only Victorian House Museum is situated in the heart of the city’s downtown Historic Preservation District. The Reitz Home Museum is noted as one of the country’s finest examples of French Second Empire architecture.

Children’s Museum of Evansville

Evansville, IN

cMoe reopened in Fall 2006 in the renovated former Downtown Central Library building with 18,000 square feet of exhibits. It hosts four main galleries, plus a multimedia theater entitled the ‘Freedom Gallery.’ ‘Work Smart’ focuses on engineering skill development and the freedom to build and create. ‘Quack Factory’ encourages explorers to follow a process and execute a plan for accomplishing a task while also offering physical challenges within a 28 foot climbing structure. The Quack Factory also provides water activities in the Wet Deck. ‘Speak Loud’ encourages children, among other activities, to dramatize a familiar story, play instruments from around the world, create an artistic masterpiece and express their feelings through music, drama, and the visual arts.

Evansville African American Museum

Evansville, IN

At Evansville African American Museum, one section showcases life in the 1938 era. The remaining sections of the building have been renovated as a modern museum serving to promote arts and education programs, cultural events and festivals.

USS LST-325

Evansville, IN

This LST (Landing Ship, Tank) is an amphibious vessel designed to land battle-ready tanks, troops and supplies directly onto enemy shores. Ships of this type proved to be enormously useful during times of war and peace both. This particular LST was originally known as LST-325 during the Second World War, USNS LST-325 during its arctic operations in the 1950’s, and later L-144 (A/G Syros) while it was in the service of the Greek Navy. It was acquired by The USS LST Ship Memorial, Inc., in 2000, and caught considerable public attention when their veteran crew brought it on a 6,500-mile journey from the Greek island of Crete to Mobile, Alabama.
