John A. Stefano, M.D., F.A.C.S.

For more than two decades, Dr. Stefano has been known by his patients and colleagues for offering quality eye care throughout Northern Shenandoah Valley. Since 1979 he has established himself as a skilled eye surgeon, performing over 1200 major surgical cases each year. In 1986, Dr. Stefano was the first surgeon in his area to perform RK (radial keratotomy) to correct nearsightedness and astigmatism. He became part of the first group of doctors in the country to receive certification to perform laser vision correction, and also became the first eye surgeon in the Winchester area to perform this surgery. The technology for laser vision correction advanced again in 1997, and Dr. Stefano then received further certification to correct vision by performing LASIK with the VISX excimer laser.
