Dr. Liow is an NIH trained research neurologist who established Hawaii’s first fully integrated multidisciplinary neuroscience team of over 10 physicians and researchers serving over 28,000 clinical and over 300 research visits in 2017 from all Islands. His team is passionate about bringing groundbreaking phase I-IV research to the state like the first disease-modifying drug BACE-Inhibitor for Alzheimer’s, innovative method to abort acute Seizures in phase I pharmacokinetic studies, novel method to deliver inhalational medications in Parkinson’s patients and other investigations in Stroke, Pediatric Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological conditions. Dr. Liow is a licensed board-certified neurologist who spends a majority of his time in research and successfully served as principal investigator (PI) or site PI for over 100 phase I-IV clinical trials in neuroscience sponsored by the NIH, CDC and the industries. He is a nationally recognized and sought after key opinion leader in neuroscience having published over 40 peer-reviewed publications and asked to serve on the national advisory panel for the CDC, American Academy of Neurology, American Epilepsy Society and drafted position statements for these national organizations.
