Red River National Wildlife Refuge

Bossier City, LA

Red River NWR is located in the Red River Valley which historically was forested with bottomland hardwoods, cypress sloughs and shrub/scrub swamps, providing a variety of habitats for wildlife. In the early 1800’s, settlers began clearing land for homesteads and farms after the Louisiana Purchase. The mid-1800’s brought more clearing for cotton farming and during the mid-1900’s, deforestation accelerated with the increase in soybean prices.

Shreveport Water Works Museum

Shreveport, LA

The Shreveport Water Works Museum tells the story of Shreveport’s early efforts to create a source of clean water for the city. It houses what is believed to be the oldest intact collection of Victorian era waterworks equipment, offering a fascinating look into the past, into industrial equipment and engineering and the importance of clean water. Originally called the McNeill Street Pumping Station (because it was formerly accessed via McNeill Street) , it is designated a “National Historic Landmark.”

Marlene Yu Museum

Shreveport, LA

The Marlene Yu Museum is dedicated to exhibit, preserve, document, and interpret the life and works of Marlene Tseng Yu.

Spring Street Historical Museum

Shreveport, LA

Originally built around 1865 as Tally’s Bank, the Spring Street Museum is one of the oldest buildings in Shreveport. Through careful restoration it provides one of the few remaining examples of New Orleans style cast-iron grill work. The original bank vault still has it’s elaborately painted door and houses a permanent exhibit of the history of Shreveport. Since 1976, the building has been owned and operated by the Shreveport Committee of the National Society of Colonial Dames in Louisiana who oversaw its restoration and placement on the National Register of Historic Places. It currently operates under the Secretary of State’s Museum Program.

Louisiana State Exhibit Museum

Shreveport, LA

Completed in 1939 as one of the New Deal’s Public Works projects, the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum is an architectural jewel, in the ultra-modern style of the times. Layered inside and out with costly marble, granite and polished aluminum, the circular building surrounds a landscaped courtyard and features hand-cut limestone. Without a doubt, this is one of the most impressive buildings in the state.

R. W. Norton Art Gallery

Shreveport, LA

Free to the public for enjoyment and enlightenment, The R.W. Norton Art Gallery of Shreveport, Louisiana is a non-profit museum built in 1966 which features original works of American and European art spanning 7 centuries.

Sci-Port: Louisiana’s Science Center

Shreveport, LA

Sci-Port is a 92,000 square-foot science and entertainment center in Shreveport-Bossier, featuring over 290 science, space science, technology and math exhibits; daily changing programs, an IMAX Dome Theatre, open-access, interactive, laser Space Dome Planetarium, gift shop and cafe. Sci-Port is located on the downtown Shreveport Riverfront. Sci-Port: Louisiana’s Science Center provides a fun, educational environment for people of all ages to explore and actively engage in the world of mathematics, science and technology.

Air U Trampoline Park

Shreveport, LA

Air U indoor trampoline park and party centers are family owned and operated. Established in 2012 in Longview, Texas, by a diverse group of friends who wanted to bring healthy, wholesome fun to their town. Since then, Air U has hosted over 100,000 jumpers, many birthday parties, soccer parties, baseball parties, and even a pre-wedding groomsmen party.
