Damon Patterson, M.D.

Dr. Calegan joined The NeuroMedical Center in 2006, and alongside neurosurgeon Dr. Paul Waguespack, developed Baton Rouge’s first Deep Brain Stimulation Center to treat patients with Parkinson’s Disease, essential tremor, and dystonia. Dr. Calegan treats all neurologic conditions, and is actively engaged in clinical research. He has served as the primary investigator for several clinical trials at The NeuroMedical Center. He believes in the importance of personally meeting with each and every one of his patients and their families in order to serve as an expert adviser in the sometimes difficult and confusing process of medical decision-making. Dr. Calegan is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Academy of Neurology and the Movement Disorder Society.

Meghan K. Harris, M.D.

Shreveport, LA

Dr. Harris joined Highland Clinic Neurology in 2010, and currently works with Heather Mecom, PA-C and Mary McFerren, PA-C to provide quality neurologic care. Her expertise is in multiple sclerosis; however, she sees all neurologic conditions and provides electro diagnostic services as well as Botox.  Dr. Harris has an assistant professor position at University Health and continues to teach residents and students in the field of neurology.

Abdul Baset Khan, MD

Brian P. Murphy, MD

More than a decade of helping patients followed Dr. Murphy’s college and medical education, giving him a broad range of experience on top of his extensive medical training. Dr. Murphy’s medical residency in Neurology was performed at LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans and was completed in 2001. Dr. Murphy continued his training, earning a fellowship in Movement Disorders in 2002 and in Clinical Neurophysiology in 2004, before joining The Baton Rouge Clinic in 2004. Dr. Murphy is board certified by the American Academy of Neurology and is licensed to practice in the state of Louisiana.

He completed his internship and residency in neurology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Fellowship training was subsequently received at the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders Center at Pennsylvania Hospital. Most recently, he was a member of the faculty and Neurology Residency Program Director at the University of Louisville. Dr. Houghton joins the staff at Ochsner Health System as Chief of the Division of Movement Disorders. His interests include all aspects of movement disorders, including DBS and botulinum toxin injections, with particular attention to research trials and interdisciplinary clinics.
