Top Music Stations in Michigan

You have a blast listening to music, while working, working out, and driving in your car. Sometimes though, you have troubles finding a music station that fits you. Sometimes your favorite station changes and what used to be a couple of minutes of commercials once an hour has become a couple of minutes of music once an hour! Or maybe you are new to Michigan, just visiting the area, or possibly just need a change. You have come to the right place.

Here we have all of the top Michigan music stations in one place, you are sure to find one that meets your tastes. Try out all of the Michigan stations and then give us your opinion on the best, worst, and any we don’t have on the list that should be. WMMQ

Lansing, MI

WMMQ is an American Classic rock radio station at 94.9 FM, licensed to East Lansing, Michigan. The station is owned by Cumulus Media. WMMQ continues to be consistently rated in Lansing’s top 10 – and was ranked in the top three in local adult 25-54 market ratings in the fall of 2006. WMMQ currently streams its programming 24/7 using the Windows Media format.

106.7 WRHC

Three Oaks, MI

Radio Harbor Country WRHC 106.7fm is a low-power FM radio station, located in Three Oaks, Michigan. The signal from the 100 watt transmitter reaches a four to twenty mile radius, serving the area known as Harbor Country. Shows are produced and created by community members from Three Oaks and all of Harbor Country. WRHC is dedicated to organizing, sponsoring and disseminating information on social, cultural and political issues as well as fostering the appreciation of the arts through outreach, education, community involvement, mentoring and programming.

WITL

Lansing, MI

WITL-FM (100.7 MHz) is a radio station broadcasting a country music format. Licensed to Lansing, Michigan, and serving Ingham, Eaton and Clinton Counties in Michigan. It first began broadcasting in 1961 (as WMRT-FM). The station took the WITL-FM call sign in 1966, and adopted a full-time country music format in 1967. Originally, WITL-FM was simulcast with (now defunct) WITL (AM) at 1010 kHz. It is currently owned and operated by Cumulus Media.

WDET 101.9 FM

Detroit, MI

WDET-FM is a public radio station in Detroit, Michigan. Licensed to Wayne State University in the city’s Cass Corridor neighborhood, about a mile south of the New Center neighborhood, WDET broadcasts original programming and shows from National Public Radio, Public Radio International and American Public Media. It broadcasts on the FM dial at 101.9 MHz. The station serves Metro Detroit and is the primary provider of news involving the American automotive industry and Michigan politics within the NPR distribution network.

WHMI 93.5 FM

Howell, MI

WHMI-FM is a radio station broadcasting at 93.5 FM in Howell, Michigan. The station broadcasts a classic rock hits format with local news, sports, traffic and weather and bills itself as Livingston County’s Own 93-5. WHMI is owned by the Livingston Radio Company with Greg Jablonski serving as the President and CEO. WHMI’s signal covers Livingston County, Michigan, including Howell, Brighton, Fowlerville, Hamburg, and Hartland, and reaches the outskirts of the Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint and Lansing markets.

WJR

Detroit, MI

WJR airs a mix of local and syndicated talk shows, and local sports. Weekdays feature WJR morning personality Paul W. Smith, afternoon personality Mitch Albom and late morning host Frank Beckmann. It is the Detroit outlet for Westwood One syndicated talk shows Michael Savage, Mark Levin, John Batchelor and Red Eye Radio. WJR for many years has aired Rush Limbaugh from the Premiere Networks in early afternoons. WJR is also the flagship station of the Michigan State Spartans and Detroit Lions.

97.5 Now FM

Lansing, MI

The station has had the WJIM-FM calls continuously since it signed on in 1960. For over three decades, WJIM-FM broadcast an easy listening/beautiful music format, which evolved during the early 1990s into a soft adult contemporary sound. On Labor Day in 1995, WJIM-FM switched from AC to “Oldies 97.5.” The change came days after WIBM dropped its longtime oldies format in favor of country to compete with WITL-FM. The station’s “good times and great oldies” format was very popular in Lansing for over a decade, with the station consistently rated in the top ten (and frequently the top five) 12+ in the Arbitron ratings.

WGRD 97.9

Grand Rapids, MI

WGRD-FM (97.9 FM) is an active rock radio station in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The station is owned by Townsquare Media. WGRD-FM is the flagship station of The Free Beer and Hot Wings Show, a comedy/talk program, on weekday mornings. It consists of five members: Greg “Free Beer” Daniels, Chris “Hot Wings” Michels, Eric (Zeitunian) Zane, Joe “Producer Joe” Gasmann, Jr, and Steve McKiernan. The show is now syndicated in 16 markets throughout the eastern United States.

91. WCSG

Grand Rapids, MI

WCSG (standing for “College and Seminary of Grand Rapids”) is a radio station in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA, that began broadcasting after five years of preparation on June 9, 1973, with an easy listening and fine arts format. WCSG is known as an inspirational format leader among Christian radio stations nationwide. Through its music and programming, and with its outreach events, its staff hope individuals receive a greater understanding of who God is and how they might better live for and serve Him.

93.1 Doug FM

Detroit, MI

WDRQ is an FM radio station in Detroit, Michigan. The station is branded as “93.1 Doug FM”. WDRQ broadcasts from the Fisher Building just north of downtown Detroit and transmits its signal from an antenna 669 feet in length located at the intersection of 10 Mile and Greenfield Roads in suburban Oak Park. The station is owned by Cumulus Media.
