Eudora Welty House

Jackson, MS

For seventy-six years, Pulitzer Prize-winning author Eudora Welty lived and wrote in her Jackson home at 1119 Pinehurst Street. Restored by the Mississippi Department of Archives and History after her death in 2001, the house is open for tours.

LeFleur’s Bluff State Park

LeFleur’s Bluff provides a lush green spot in the heart of urban Jackson. In addition to camping, fishing, picnic spots, and nature trails, the 305-acre park features a nine-hole golf course and a driving range. The park is named for Louis LeFleur, a French-Canadian explorer who established a trading post on the banks of the Pearl River in the late 1700’s.

Geyser Falls Water Theme Park

Choctaw, MS

Geyser Falls Water Theme Park is a water park located in the Choctaw area of central Mississippi, near Philadelphia. Geyser Falls features 13 water slides, including a six-story freefall speed slide, a gigantic wave pool, an exotic lazy river, a four-lane racing slide, a children’s water, Mt. Everwet is a six story ride that offers riders three speed slides and more.

Grand Paradise Waterpark

Collins, MS

Grand Paradise is a 7-acre blast of water excitement. We have a lazy river that is 850 feet long. They also have 4 major slides. If you want your next group activity to be a wonderful memory, bring the gang to Grand Paradise Waterpark.

The Jackson Zoo

Jackson, MS

The Jackson Zoo is a living classroom. More than 35,000 school children visit the Zoo each year with their teachers. There were more than 27,000 participants in last year’s education programs. Zoo programs provide teachers with exciting curriculum-based lessons for their students. The Zoo is a remarkable interactive family facility, with more than 90% of its visitors being families with children under 12 with their accompanying parents or grandparents.

Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum

Vicksburg, MS

The museum houses a wide variety of exhibits interpreting the beginnings of Coca-Cola, the history of the Biedenharn family, the process used to first bottle Coca-Cola, a reproduction of the equipment first used to bottle Coke, the history of Coca-Cola advertising, and Coca-Cola memorabilia from past to present. The authentically-restored candy store and office area feature furnishings and displays of the 1890s and offers ice cream, fountain Cokes, Coke floats and a wide selection of Coca-Cola souvenirs.

Mississippi Museum of Natural Science

Jackson, MS

The Mississippi Museum of Natural Science is located in Jackson, Mississippi, tucked within historic LeFleur’s Bluff State Park. Inside the park, the Museum’s buildings and grounds feature a 73,000-square foot complex overlooking a 300-acre natural landscape, 2.5 miles of nature trails, and an open-air amphitheater. Located inside the Museum are a variety of exciting exhibits, including: a series of life-size displays of the state’s diverse habitats, a 100,000-gallon aquarium network housing over 200 living species, and a 1,700-square foot greenhouse called “The Swamp.”

Lauren Rogers Museum of Art

Laurel, MS

Opened in 1923, the Museum draws approximately 32,000 visitors each year from across the nation with its outstanding collections of European and American art, Native American baskets, British Georgian silver, and Japanese woodblock prints, as well as an extensive art history library. The Lauren Rogers Museum of Art offers visitors an enjoyable artistic experience in the Museum Galleries, the Museum Library and the Museum Shop.
