Prehistoric Trackways National Monument

Las Cruces, NM

The Prehistoric Trackways National Monument was established in 2009 to conserve, protect, and enhance the unique and nationally-important paleontological, scientific, educational, scenic, and recreational resources and values of the Robledo Mountains in southern New Mexico. The Monument includes a major deposit of Paleozoic Era fossilized footprint megatrackways within approximately 5,280 acres. The trackways contain footprints of numerous amphibians, reptiles, and insects (including previously unknown species), plants, and petrified wood dating back 280 million years, which collectively provide new opportunities to understand animal behaviors and environments from a time predating dinosaurs.

Shakespeare Ghost Town

Lordsburg, NM

At the Shakespeare Ghost Town, visitors can stroll by the streets trod by Billy The Kid, John Ringo, Curley Bill, Russian Bill, Jim Hughes, and Sandy King. The tour also includes visiting many unique areas such as the Company Mining House, the Grant House, and the Stratford Hotel.

New Mexico Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum

Las Cruces, NM

New Mexico Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum is an interactive museum that brings to life the 3,000-year history of farming and ranching in New Mexico. At the museum, visitors can watch a cow being milked, stroll along corrals filled with livestock, and even enjoy several gardens within the premises.

Las Cruces Railroad Museum

Las Cruces, NM

Las Cruces Railroad Museum interprets the railroad history of Las Cruces and the impact of the railroad on Southern New Mexico. They promote appreciation of their heritage through exhibitions, public programming and interpretation of the impact of railroading on the development of Las Cruces and the Mesilla Valley. They are dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the historic Santa Fe Depot, which is on the National Registry of Historic Buildings.

Branigan Cultural Center

Las Cruces, NM

The Branigan Cultural Center hosts changing cultural exhibits, as well as educational programs, classes, and other special events. The building is on the National and State Registries of Historic Buildings.
