Best Places to Visit in New Mexico

Sometimes you just want to get out and explore. We try to strike a good balance of places that you will really enjoy. Finding ideas for family friendly outings, or interesting places to go in New Mexico with your friends, both are at your fingertips here with America Top 10. We aim to give you plenty of ideas without you having to do all the research. That way you can easily decide if you want to explore New Mexico sites or check out the sites in another state.

You have also heard how it is becoming a lot more popular to have staycations (where you stay home instead of going to far off places) and discover new and interesting places in the near vicinity. We try to make that easier for you. Check out the sites in New Mexico that have become local favorites easily with our site.

Museum of Indian Arts and Culture

Santa Fe, NM

The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture, one of four museums in the Museum of New Mexico system, is a premier repository of Native art and material culture and tells the stories of the people of the Southwest from pre-history through contemporary art. The museum serves a diverse, multicultural audience through changing exhibitions, public lectures, field trips, artist residencies, and other educational programs.

Prehistoric Trackways National Monument

Las Cruces, NM

The Prehistoric Trackways National Monument was established in 2009 to conserve, protect, and enhance the unique and nationally-important paleontological, scientific, educational, scenic, and recreational resources and values of the Robledo Mountains in southern New Mexico. The Monument includes a major deposit of Paleozoic Era fossilized footprint megatrackways within approximately 5,280 acres. The trackways contain footprints of numerous amphibians, reptiles, and insects (including previously unknown species), plants, and petrified wood dating back 280 million years, which collectively provide new opportunities to understand animal behaviors and environments from a time predating dinosaurs.

Georgia O’Keeffe Museum

Santa Fe, NM

Georgia O’Keeffe Museum is known for being the most visited art museum in the state of New Mexico. The museum is also known to be dedicated to one of the most internationally recognized American woman artists of the 20th century, Georgia O’Keeffe herself.

Ice Cave and Bandera Volcano

Grants, NM

Ice Cave and Bandera Volcano features an Old Time Trading Post, the Bandera Volcano, and the Ice Caves. The historic Ice Cave Trading Post currently displays ancient artifacts as well as contemporary Indian artwork.

Zane Bennett Contemporary Art

Santa Fe, NM

Zane Bennett Contemporary Art is known to be rivaling the traditions of the best contemporary galleries in the country today. Zane Bennett Contemporary Art presently displays some art programs and exhibitions which are engaging and visually stimulating as well.

Las Cruces Railroad Museum

Las Cruces, NM

Las Cruces Railroad Museum interprets the railroad history of Las Cruces and the impact of the railroad on Southern New Mexico. They promote appreciation of their heritage through exhibitions, public programming and interpretation of the impact of railroading on the development of Las Cruces and the Mesilla Valley. They are dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the historic Santa Fe Depot, which is on the National Registry of Historic Buildings.

Cliff’s Amusement Park

Albuquerque, NM

Cliff’s Amusement Park is known as a New Mexico tradition that has been offering thrills and memories from its beautiful and festive park. The place is well-known for being home of the Watermania, as well as other family and thrill rides.

Santa Ana Star Casino
