Tinker Nature Park/Hansen Nature Center

Pittsford, NY

In 1994, Henry Hansen made possible the purchase of a log cabin building which became the Hansen Nature Center. In 1998, he provided funds for an addition which more than doubled the Nature Center’s size. The nature center features displays on the natural history of New York and offers classes year round.

Cobb’s Hill Park

Rochester, NY

Cobb’s Hill Park, features 109 acres of beauty, recreation, and scenic trails. At the park’s highest point, a walking trail offers one of the best views of the city. At road level, a collection of lilacs and original tree plantings makes this park a horticultural gem. During summer nights, Cobb’s Hill Park bustles with players from local softball leagues.

Memorial Art Gallery

Strong National Museum of Play

Rochester, NY

The Strong® is a highly interactive, collections-based museum devoted to the history and exploration of play. It is one of the largest history museums in the United States and one of the leading museums serving families. The Strong houses the world’s largest and most comprehensive collection of historical materials related to play and is home to the International Center for the History of Electronic Games, the National Toy Hall of Fame, the World Video Game Hall of Fame, the Brian Sutton-Smith Library and Archives of Play, the Woodbury School, and the American Journal of Play. Together, these enable a multifaceted array of research, exhibition, and other interpretive and educational activities that serve a diverse audience of adults, families, children, students, teachers, scholars, collectors, and others around the globe.

Seneca Park Zoo

Rochester, NY

Visit the animals at Seneca Park Zoo, which is open all year long. Closed New Year’s Day, the first Saturday in June for Zoobilation,Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. Seneca Park Zoo inspires the community to connect, care for, and conserve wildlife and wild places. Situated on 15.5 acres along the Genesee River, the Zoo is a gem among Greater Rochester’s family attractions. 

Rockventures

Rochester, NY

Rockventures currently offers a 18,000 square feet area of rock climbing surface, a full-sized indoor high and low ropes course, and climbing classes. Rockventures has also been offering educational and recreational events since 1995.

George Eastman House

Rochester, NY

The George Eastman House is a well-known international museum that features photography and film. The George Eastman House also offers a wide variety of educational resources for recreational learners and even researchers.

National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House

Rochester, NY

The National Susan B. Anthony Museum & House in Rochester, was the home of the legendary American civil rights leader, and the site of her famous arrest for voting in 1872. This home was the headquarters of the National American Woman Suffrage Association when she was its president. This is also where she died in 1906 at age 86, following her “Failure is Impossible” speech in Baltimore.
