Asbury Woods was founded through the generosity of Dr. Otto Behrend who bequeathed his beloved 100 acre farm retreat to the Millcreek Township School District in 1957. Since then the Nature Center has grown to become one of the premier environmental education centers in the tri-state region, reaching 29,000 people through programming and over 100,000 public visitors annually. In addition to a state-of-the-art Nature Center, Asbury Woods now encompasses 205 acres of woods, fields and streams as well as 4.5 miles of associated trails.
