Mortgage brokers can still be a good thing. They can do a lot of the hands on shopping for a home loan for you. Ask your Vermont broker up front how they will be paid and see if you can get it in writing that they are working in your best interest, they may not be willing to do this but it can’t hurt to ask. Also, check with several of the mortgage lenders in Vermont until you find one you feel comfortable with and that you can trust.
