McDonough Wildlife Refuge
Parkersburg, WV
Directly across from Jackson Park on Rosemar Road is the entrance to the McDonough Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is a 277-acre wildlife area, managed by the Vienna Department of Parks and Recreation. You may see many different types of wildlife including: white-tailed deer, turkey, red and gray fox, and coyote. Migratory waterfowl inhabit two ponds within the refuge. All trails are clearly marked and easy to follow.
Ritter Park
Huntington, WV
For many years Ritter Park has been considered the Crown Jewel of the Park District. The Park’s 75 acres and numerous amenities contributed to it being designated one of the top ten “Best Public Spaces in America” by the American Planning Association in 2012. Ritter Park is known for its walking path with crushed limestone loop that encourages health as many walkers, joggers, dog walkers and bicyclists share the multi-purpose pathway. Another favorite at Ritter Park is the award winning Rose Garden and the Room With A View. With over 3000 roses, many of which are historic AARS winners, the Ritter Park Rose Garden is a top choice for June weddings and events throughout the season.

The Park was created over 50 years ago by a dedicated group of Kanawha County residents. It has grown into one of the most beautiful parks in the region. The park includes over a thousand acres of woodland, hiking and biking trails, disk golf, a handicapped accessible 18 hole par three golf course, an Olympic size pool, picnic shelters of all sizes, tennis courts, horseshoe pits and a modern playground area, ampitheater, 3000 seat soccer stadium and a wedding garden.
St. Cloud Commons

St. Cloud Commons is an historic park that has served the West end of Huntington since the 1930’s. Originally constructed as a community center, the lodge at St. Clouds is now the site for many different types of gatherings.
Cabwaylingo State Forest
Dunlow, WV
Cabwaylingo State Forest is located in the heart of Southern West Virginia in Wayne County. Constructed in 1930’s, the forest acquires its exceptional and unique name from the four adjoining counties from which it serves which are the Cabell, Wayne, Lincoln, and Mingo. The place is wonderful for nature exploration as well as relaxation. It is a place for family/ friends vacation.
