Clay Center

The Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences of West Virginia opened on July 12, 2003. The Center, a 240,000 square foot structure, houses performing arts, visual arts and sciences under one roof, one of the few of its kind in the country. The facility is home to the Clay Center’s Avampato Discovery Museum, the Juliet Art Museum and the Maier Foundation Performance Hall, home of the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra.

McDonough Wildlife Refuge
Parkersburg, WV
Directly across from Jackson Park on Rosemar Road is the entrance to the McDonough Wildlife Refuge. The refuge is a 277-acre wildlife area, managed by the Vienna Department of Parks and Recreation. You may see many different types of wildlife including: white-tailed deer, turkey, red and gray fox, and coyote. Migratory waterfowl inhabit two ponds within the refuge. All trails are clearly marked and easy to follow.

The park has a waterfront amphitheater which is the location for numerous events and concerts, and is available to rent for a wedding, concert or party. A new playground was added in 2014, and a section of the Paul Ambrose Trail for Health leads walkers to an outdoor exercise area. This park has free WiFi available to park patrons.
