Pana’ewa Rainforest Zoo
Hilo, HI
The Pana’ewa Rainforest Zoo and Gardens, is the only naturally occurring tropical rain forest zoo in the United States. It is home to more than 80 animal species including Giant Anteaters, American Alligators and two Bengal Tigers, a white Bengal tiger named Tzatziki and an orange Bengal tiger named Sriracha. The zoo opened in 1978 and features exhibits that are designed to maximize and blend with the natural vegetation of the Pana‘ewa Forest Reserve, which gets more than 125 inches of rain a year.

Meticulously restored to its former grandeur, this National Historic Landmark in downtown Honolulu tells of a time when their Majesties, King Kalākaua, who built it in 1882, and his sister and successor, Queen Lili‘uokalani, walked its celebrated halls.
Hawaii’s Plantation Village

Hawaii’s Plantation Village is an outdoor museum telling the story of life on Hawaii’s sugar plantations (circa 1850-1950). The Village includes restored buildings and replicas of plantation structures, including houses of various ethnic groups and community buildings such as the plantation store, infirmary, bathhouse and manager’s office.
Bay View Mini-Putt and Zipline

Bay View Mini-Putt and Zipline, is one of Hawaii’s most popular family attractions. They offer wholesome fun for everyone, for those who are young to ones that are young at heart. In addition to 36 holes of miniature golf, they have expanded their venue by offering Oahu’s first commercial zipline.
Bishop Museum
Honolulu, HI
Bishop Museum was founded in 1889 by Charles Reed Bishop in honor of his late wife, Princess Bernice Pauahi Bishop, the last descendant of the royal Kamehameha family. The Museum was established to house the extensive collection of Hawaiian objects and royal family heirlooms of the Princess, and has expanded to include millions of objects, documents and photographs about Hawai‘i and other Pacific island cultures. Today, Bishop Museum is the largest museum in the state and the premier natural and cultural history institution in the Pacific, recognized throughout the world for its cultural collections, research projects, consulting services and public educational programs. It also has one of the largest natural history specimen collections in the world.
Honoli’i Beach Park
Hilo, HI
Honoli’i Beach Park is located just north of Hilo Bay. Composed primarily of black detrital sand and pebbles that have been eroded from areas mauka and transported makai by Honoli’I Stream. This beach is commonly used by surfers and body boarders. It is in a secluded spot, with good surf and grassy area for laying out. It is considered the top surf spot on the Hilo side of the island. Honoli’i is one of the most popular surfing breaks in the Hilo area.
Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden
Kaneohe, HI
Strolling or driving through these lush 400 acres in windward Oʻahu, you will truly agree that Hoʻomaluhia is rightfully named “a peaceful refuge.” Opened in 1982, this garden in Kāneʻohe features plantings from major tropical regions around the world grouped geographically.
